I recently visited Tango in Durham, Uk. It sells American style burgers and nachos, at a really good price. It’s a small restaurant by the river, but it’s usually really packed.
Luckily we visited on a pretty empty Wednesday afternoon, so we were seated right away.
Although they didn’t have a specifically gluten free menu, the waiter knew exactly what options I had. I was able to eat any of the burgers or the nachos.
The only thing I couldn’t have was the chips, as they were cooked in the same fryer as the onion rings. But this wasn’t really an issue for me.
I wasn’t too hungry, so I only ordered the nachos. I got served what was considered a small portion, so it only cost £4.95 but in all seriousness, it was anything but a small portion.
It was covered in guacamole, sour cream and homemade salsa, with melted American cheese (I admit I regretted eating so much cheese later, as I’ve recently been eating a very little amount of dairy recently so it was a shock to the system).
There was so much topping that there’s no way you could run out and end up with a naked nacho, which was so good. That’s how you know you’ve got good nachos.
I really recommended the nachos to someone who wants a good value lunch.
The only downside was the restaurant only seemed to have one waiter so we often had to wait for a long time to get his attention, and our food took a rather long time to come out. But it was worth the wait for it.
Plus, for both myself and my friend Chloe, who had a burger, plus two drinks, it only came to £18. Such a bargain.
I have visited this restaurant once before, back in November, with a few friends. This time I had “The TFC” which is fried chicken, with bacon, cheese and dressing.
It was such a good burger! It was no Fat Hippo, but they’re in a league of their own, if you ask me.
But heads up, it’s a very very messy burger. The dressing dripped everywhere, resulting in having to eat it with a knife and fork.
If you’re in Durham, it’s well worth a visit though.
