Whilst doing a shop at Tesco’s I noticed a new product I’ve never seen before. I don’t know if I’d just missed it before, or they were actually new.
At first I was quite hesitant to try them, but was persuaded to give them a go.
In the pack you get 4 wedges, at £2 per pack, so they’re fairly good value compared to other products. They’re also frozen so can last ages, which is a massive plus.
But I have to say, I’m still on the fence about them. I can’t work out if I actually enjoyed eating them or not.
They’re vegetarian and dairy/gluten free so cater to many people. Which is great! They don’t take too long to cook so can be made for a quick and easy dinner.
Tesco’s website suggests eating them alongside pizza, dough balls and salad, but I opted for just a salad to make the meal a lot more healthy.
Each wedge is 132 calories, meaning that you can have a low calorie dinner, but they do contain a high amount of salt (10% of your recommended daily amount per burger) and fat so if you’re watching your intake of either of those, maybe these aren’t for you.
They didn’t seem to have much flavour, but were packed with lots of different beans, which gave the impression they were fairly healthy.
They were pretty filling however, as two were enough for a whole meal, plus salad of course.
But, in terms of the flavour, I don’t think they lived up to their spicy name. I dipped them in Nando’s sauce to give them a kick and they were a lot better after that.
Am I missing something?
I’ll definitely get them again, and give them another chance. They might taste better if they’re cooked for longer, to give the outer coating a crunch perhaps.
If anyone has tried these wedges, let me know what you think.
